With the victory in Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, the New York Yankees set a historic record early in the MLB season, thanks in part to Aaron Judge.

Aaron Judge started the season strong with the New York Yankees. The second game of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers was exceptional for him, as he hit three home runs. His top teammates also took advantage, posting home runs that helped the team set a historic MLB record.

Through the first three innings, it was clear the Yankees were on track to set a remarkable record—and they did. Judge played a key role with his first home run of the day, joined by teammates like Volpe and Chisholm Jr. Their contributions resulted in the Yankees becoming the first team in MLB history to have all hitters from the 1-6 spots in the lineup hit home runs in the same game.

Paul Goldschmidt was the first to help the Yankees achieve this important historic record with a massive 413-foot home run to left-center in the 1st inning. Cody Bellinger followed, then Judge with a 468-foot blast to left field, and Wells wrapped up the inning by putting the Yankees ahead 4-0 over the Brewers.

Volpe and Chisholm Jr. added home runs in the second and third innings, respectively, while Peraza hit the final Yankees home run, making the score 20-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Brewers added two more runs for a final score of 9-20.

Judge also contributed to a franchise record.

Not only was it a historic MLB record heavily influenced by Judge and his teammates, but it also set a franchise record with nine home runs in the game against the Brewers. The game officially became the Yankees’ highest home run total in a single game. With two more bombs, they could have tied another historic record in the category, currently held by the Blue Jays with 10 home runs in a game.

Multiple records were set during the Yankees’ game

“With Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge, the Yankees are the second team to get three consecutive HRs from former MVPs (since BBWAA began voting in 1931), joining: 8/31/24 LAD Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman.”

“With Austin Wells and Paul Goldschmidt, this is the first time in MLB history that a team hit a leadoff home run in consecutive games, and it was the first career start in the leadoff position for each batter.”
