Pierre McGuire just made some rather troubling comments involving Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes.

According to him, there is clearly a problem with Dobes’ goaltending technique, and that’s what would explain why he’s not playing right now.

Much like “back in the day” when Cayden Primeau was the Canadiens’ number two goalie at the start of the season, Samuel Montembeault is now being run into the ground by Martin St-Louis.

We’re far removed from the stretch where Montembeault and Dobes were alternating starts-and even further from the conversations about Dobes possibly overtaking Montembeault as the Canadiens’ number one goalie.

Jakub Dobes has an issue with his goaltending technique, according to Pierre McGuire

You read that right.

Even though Montembeault is showing clear signs of fatigue, the Habs continue to throw him back into the fire, including tonight against the St. Louis Blues.

Since January 30, Dobes has played only five games (and hasn’t started in two weeks).

As reported by Marco Normandin from the site HABSolumentFan, Pierre McGuire believes he knows the reason why Dobes seems to have clearly lost the trust of his head coach.

“There is a problem with Jakub Dobes’ technique, and the coach knows it.

Everyone around the league now knows that if you shoot the puck high on him, you’re going to score a lot of goals.

He’s going to have to adjust, and he’ll be able to with the help of his goalie coach, but he drops down way too quickly, and opposing players know it now.

They don’t even try shooting low on him anymore-they shoot high every time.”

According to him and what he’s hearing, there’s a flaw in Dobes’ technique, and that would be why MSL no longer trusts his young goalie.

That’s a rather concerning statement, especially since it’s a significant issue. However, Dobes is still young and his numbers remain encouraging overall.

We still have plenty of confidence in him!
