We mentioned it a bit earlier, but TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie just added another layer regarding Lane Hutson. This young man is a true hockey fanatic.



A hockey fanatic like we rarely see in the NHL.

As we mentioned in the past few hours, the Montreal Canadiens’ management even had to step in to force Hutson to take a day off from hockey.

 

On BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie elaborated further and made an interesting comparison.

He refuses to take days off, so he joins the extras when the regular players are at home.

Incredible.

“There isn’t a single day off where he hasn’t gone to the practice facility for a quick workout.

It’s Friday, there’s no practice for the Canadiens.

He’s on the ice with Kaiden Guhle and Michael Pezzetta.

All that to say, I asked him why he does this on off days instead of staying home, and he said honestly, ‘I have no hobbies, I have nothing to do.’

When I watch this kid, he reminds me of one person-and that’s his head coach, Martin St-Louis.

Lane Hutson says he does this, practicing with the extras, simply because he really doesn’t have any other passions in life besides hockey.

At the beginning of the season, he was more shy and didn’t want to overdo it, but now he no longer holds back (rightfully so), and he’s always on the ice in Brossard whenever possible and when the team isn’t on the road.

He’s truly a special young player, and it’s no coincidence he’s so good on the ice.
