Juan Soto reunited with Aaron Boone during spring training, but his former manager was not pleased to see him in a New York Mets uniform, delivering a blunt comment about his new look.

Aaron Boone recently reunited with Juan Soto, though this time, Soto was no longer wearing Yankees pinstripes but the uniform of their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets, during a spring training game that ended in a 6-6 tie.

Boone’s reaction was unsurprising—it’s hard for any manager to see one of the MLB’s best players donning another team’s jersey. Speaking about the encounter, Boone revealed his blunt comment to Juan Soto, saying, “I told him he looked terrible in that uniform.”

For Soto, however, the reunion was a meaningful moment. He has recently shared details about reconnecting with his former Yankees teammates. Boone, on the other hand, probably knows that letting the Dominican star go was a mistake, though the Yankees did make an effort to re-sign him with a significant financial offer.

Footage of the interaction between Boone and Soto shows that, despite Boone’s remark, the meeting was friendly. Soto appeared happy to see his former manager, and the two shared a handshake and a brief hug before parting ways.

The Yankees feel Soto’s absence but adjust for 2025

With Soto’s departure, Boone has had to make some adjustments as the Yankees prepare for the 2025 MLB season. One of his first moves was bringing in Cody Bellinger, who has been working in the outfield. During spring training, Bellinger has shown that he’s in excellent shape.
